do not metaphor me

frivolous

frivolous

i set it on a penny
but it was way too small
in the center of that penny
it was not at all

so i put it in my pocket
to remove it from my view
but there was a tiny hole
and it just fell on through

it rolled onto the ground
where it took a bumpy ride
until it slid into a crack
and settled there to hide

When relationships end there is always that one thing you miss. That one thing you once valued that doesn’t exist anymore, and probably never did. But still you try to hold onto it to make every bad thing you are going through worth while. You never really forget about it. You never really get over it. It just kind of gets lost in the memory of the relationship. This poem is my way of laughing at something that is actually a very emotional thing.

Can relate. It’s been a year – limerence, though. Did the penny ever come out of hiding? With the memory you laid on it, or without?

Honestly it depends what Iโ€™ve put on the penny. ๐Ÿ™‚ when I wrote it I was referring to an unrequited love and thankfully it is still in hiding where it belongs. And I will not be finding it to pick it back up. Somethings you must let go.
